Bonnet not latching

Hi team. Just quick comment to say how much this forum is excellent for us mad motorists who drive range rovers!,,I opened my bonnet today just to check oil and water, the usual stuff. So went to close bonnet and it wouldn’t latch. 45 minutes later of banging and gentle manoeuvring it still wouldn’t catch. At this point I nearly went the full basil fawlty on the f*cker but then I remembered I’m on the forum! So quick search and lo and behold it’s a thing!!! Looked through the tips from our members and now bonnet closed and blood pressure at normal safe range again. Moral of the story, check forum first!!!
Cheers

Thumbs Up

Really ought to do mine - it latches but upsets the alarm every single time, and I know it's a known thing.. still, while we're all locked in our homes I guess I'll have time to fix things like this! Mr. Green 2014 BMW 530d Touring, 2006 BMW 650i, 2018 Mini Cooper S

I nipped out and checked mine. Both catches were pretty gunged up so I gave them both a good clean out with brake cleaner and an old toothbrush. Then sprayed some WD40 in there afterwards. I'm going to make sure I do this on a periodic basis going forward.

I also noticed the pull catch on the underside of the bonnet was completely seized in the open position. Thinking about it, it makes sense because I didn't know it was even there! Laughing I usually pop the bonnet from inside, then lift it straight up without lifting any catch. All sorted with a bit of WD-40 and it's now springing back nicely. Kev

Did the alarm thing some time ago but I now get the n/s catch sticking open, so I've now got a "tool" in the boot that I use to reset it Very Happy

Yes, I should get round to fixing it but far too busy building at the moment...
