United Kingdom 2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 Autobiography Orkney Grey
Rear brake knock noise

Hi Chaps.

Noticed today that when applying the parking brake that I hear the normal motor noise but then hear a knock. Not always but if I apply and then un-apply then reapply the parking brake then I hear this loud noise knock clunk.

Any ideas? Will book it in anyway but curious to know what it might be.

Thanks in advance. ===========================================

Well my rob acticulator was destroyed. So that plus + rear parking brake shoes and labour has set me back £1500. Could have done with out that right now. ===========================================

What was destroyed? I’m sure you used to be able to get a kit of internals to rebuild the actuator rather than replace it. 2012MY RRS 5.0 Supercharged Autobiography (Current)

You're right Brit. Usually, the gears strip inside the parking brake module. You can purchase a kit to repair this.

or, if you just need the gears themselves...

My indie replaced my parking brake earlier this month he has them reconditioned cost was £150 + VAT. Asked me if I wanted the one he took off returned to me after being repaired , picking it up next time I'm in the area could be a while with the present situation.

That's a good price, I had mine replaced under warranty and with labour and VAT the job was £900. I'm not sure you'd want to take it off the car on your drive, looks a PITA.
