United Kingdom 2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 Autobiography Fuji White

When you take out the gap ins you can choose the amount difference you want so say you want the difference to be 15k so like mine was 44k invoice price then ins say in 2 years car is only worth 25k then I will only get 40k 25k from ins & 15k from gap,but ive got mine set at 20k over 2 years so if anything was to happen I will get (hopefully) around 25k & then another 19k from gap making it back to invoice at 44k.Obviously the more the cover the more you pay, mine was £295 for 3 years cover but I don't keep my cars that long so in the event of anything happening I should get my 44k what I paid. Andy.

Thanks for explaining that. I have never taken GAP and had thought it was more sophisticated than that.
I did not realise it was a simple insurance for a fixed amount.

However the OP would still be at risk with his insurance company. 2023 P440e SE Dynamic on order -cancelled

I don't think that non disclosure of gap will work. All insurance companies seem to talk to each other nowadays as its a computer world out there. Years ago you had to get proof of no claims sent to you so you can let your new company see the document. Now its a couple of keystrokes to find out all about you. It can be an expensive lesson if your found out. You don't have to volunteer that you have gap but if they ask the question. Evil or Very Mad Also find it strange that OP is saying his company only insures up to £75k. Any high end car costs more than that. Think I would be looking elsewhere

Seriously? You’ve bought an SVR and are risking either not getting a full payout or, worse, committing insurance fraud and having no cover at all if you have an accident and or kill someone - and all for the sake of saving a few quid??!! If money’s that tight you should sell the SVR and run something you can afford to insure.

Hi nil07

Appreciate you may of already had this sorted by now - but just in case anyone has the same query I'll post an answer from the point of view of an insurance company (I work in Insurance and insure a lot of SVR's, AB's etc)

Any insurance policy you have will need to insure for the full market value - so the ''standard'' insurance policies aren't quite up to the task for the higher value/higher performance vehicles, even the ones that will take cover on, might not approach claims / cover in a way you would expect

The GAP cover can't be used to correct an underinsurance value unfortunately - A GAP provider will most likely refuse to pay out in those scenarios (or work out the percentage you were under insured and discount the pay out accordingly)

If you go with a specialist insurer - you'll be able to either insure it on an agreed value basis - or market value + the GAP (it's worth taking GAP through an insurance company or other provider as the garages apply a huge mark-up on them)

If anyone needs any more info, PM me - happy to help and I'm usually floating around here!

Hi, new to the forum...

just ordered a new RRS SVR on the crazy lease deals being offered right now... hopefully will be delivered in a few months (or so i am told)

Thought i would do my homework on insurance, as ive heard its hard.... got a couple of quotes north of £1500 with tracker active...

live in london, no funnies in my history, lots of NCB, clean license..

however, just need to find someone who can insure it for a reasonable price!!

look forward to driving it (if i can get it insured) LOL

Any recommendations of companies/brokers would be valued.. my current broker cant insure any RRS models unless they are garaged!

Your getting into a minefield here. All insurance companies have access to the same database, so you will be on a sticky wicket if the worse happens. For example you used to supply proof of no claims, now they just check your details

Personal experience of GAP insurance, arranged through the company who provided the finance for the truck.

Left owing £14k after truck written off, so don't rely on this type of insurance to pay what you think it should.

Who is best depends on where you live, age etc. So what is good for one person is rubbish for another.

What do the comparison sites come up with up for you? Is that where the £1,500 comes from?

Also bear in mind the word ( London and SVR ) do not go down well together with insurance companies. The Range Rover Sport is one of the top most cars stolen in London. Big Cry 2020 Range Rover Sport SVR 5.0L V8 Supercharged
