Renewal doubled - Are you kidding me??

So, I bought a brand new RRS AB Dynamic last March and took insurance via A-Plan.

I paid £1,346. Fast forward to this years renewal and I recevied a renewal notice for £2,223.91 for the same cover but with a different insurer - ABC - whoever they are.

Ageas apparently have withdwawn from the Land Rover market according to the A-plan rep I just spoke to and he thinks the rate is the best their panel of 36 insurers can do... I also spoke to Marie in the PC office who was of more help and said she will look further intro the premium and speak witht he other branch

So A-Plan - how does this translate into reality as a site sponsor for RRS cars?

Direct Line quoted me £655.20 but they have asked for details of the tracker but sill the renewal quoted here is totally unacceptable and unless a vast renewal reduction in premium is put forward I'm a customer lost, never to return and I doubt any other RRS owner will take cover out via A-Plan at these rates.

Compeltetly un-competative and very very dissatisfied customer

I also got a bit of a hike at renewal time with A-Plan. I called them to see if they could do better as I'd had a much better quote elsewhere so I was advised to email them evidence of the quote showing registration and price and they would go to the underwriters who usually could beat it. They didn't beat the price, but came close enough for me to not bother with the usual NCB document scanning etc hassles.

My quote through Direct Line - £636! So that's £1,587.91 cheaper than A-Plan!!

All they need is the secure tracer certificate to be uploaded (can do via InControl desktop website). They know its CAT6 but tell me its perfectly fine.

A-Plan lost a customer.

Just had this fun with Quotememiserable Censored , as you've said direct line want a tracker even on my old bus, ended up with best quote that had europe cover albeit third part only Rolling Eyes (note some don't cover all) via compare the market, saved about £170 compared to the £700+ I'd been quoted. It's a PITA but loyalty definitely doesn't pay on car insurance.

Having to do for home insurance as they seem to think I'll stomach £60+ raise when nothing had changed! Rolling Eyes 2008 TDV8 Buckingham Blue- SOLD

It’s because the theft rate of Range Rovers has gone stratospheric! They are a big big risk now for insurers...
Someone has to pay for it...

Just renewed mine for my 2008 TDV8 with Aviva even though it had gone up. Checked around but staying with Aviva was the best deal unless I wanted to go with someone I've never heard of - cost £352 fully comp. but £650 XS. Had checked with Direct Line but they wanted a tracker on my 12 year old car Shocked Robin

I approached A Plan last month (we have 2 other cars insured with them) and they said they could not be competitive with a quote I had through compare the market. As a consequence I am now insured with LV MY17 RRS 4.4d V8 Autobiography - Aintree Green (also referred to on Topix as British Racing Green)

Unfortunately the premiums are only reflective of what they are seeing on their claims history...rather than getting angry at the insurers we should be getting angry at our Police forces who have dismantled all of their stolen vehicle units...
This is the real reason car crime is going through the roof....there is little risk to the thieves of capture and prosecution

It’s a far more lucrative crime than bank robbery nowadays with minimal risk and huge profit!

It also doesn’t help those who buy cheap parts on EBay and social media with little consideration or care where the parts are coming from providing they are getting a bargain...

Blimey! I thought mine was bad going up £100 from £300 to £400 fully comp with LV , these quotes sound ridiculous.

Unfortunately, yes Ageas Optima has withdrawn completely from this market - we do use other insurers though their criteria is slightly different in terms of what they accept: Post codes, annual mileage, where the vehicle is kept (garage/drive) etc... so if you didn't meet their criteria then they wouldn't be quoting for you.

We can't win them all but as above just because we aren't competitive for one risk we will be for another risk that ticks the right boxes for insurers.

Sorry to have lost you Big Cry but it sounds like the deal you got elsewhere was much better financially so I'll be the first to hold my hands up and say we just can't compete with that Bow down

Insurers will change their criteria frequently so it's always worth giving another try when it comes back around - who know, next year Ageas may decide they will re-enter the market as they are losing a lot of LandRovers/RangeRovers at renewal with their recent change and this is solely down to the rocketing number of thefts they will have been paying out for over the past year. Car insurance across the board (not just the insurers we use at A-Plan) is on the up Crying or Very sad

That being said, we are still competitive on many other insurances including home insurance which you also get discounts on for being a member of the forum.

Blame culture at it's finest.

The increase in claims for collisions, has a massive impact on insurance prices. Back track that to the motorist, and there you have the real source.. 2011 MY D4 HSE
