United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Java Black
Off road navigation

Hi all

I occasionally take my RRS off road in places that I know well, so know where I'm going.
I fancy trying new locations, although can't make sense of the off road navigation system.

The owner's manual I have says nothing about it, so is there a separate manual somewhere?
If not, does anyone know how the system works?

Thanks

Ww

Hi Doc750

Do you know if I can use it to record a route?
I'm planing to explore Salisbury plain soon and would like to plot where I go.

Been there in the past and its very easy to get lost.

Thanks

Use an app on your phone?
Plenty that use Ordnance Survey maps, I use Memory Map which has been around for years.

You can pre-program your route and/or have a breadcrumb trail of where you have been.

We use it for walking in the UK and France, but will work for a car. 2023 P440e SE Dynamic on order -cancelled

+1 for both OS and Memory Map apps - I have them both on my smart phone and an iPad Pro 11” with a Brodit dash mount for my Defender. When I had the RRS’s and the Defender I could use the devices in both cars easily. The latest version of the app from OS I don’t find as good as the pervious version as it needs to have a good data signal to work accurately and to down load map tiles on the move. IIRC Memory Map is now a subscription / paid for app 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

To be honest for Salisbury I'd hook up with Paul Carter's group on Facebook and tag on with one of his trips when its on.

There are a load of TROs and VROs out on the plain combined with firing times and excercises - it means its best to go with someone that knows the place a couple of times rather than be arrested or blown up 2012 SDV6 HSE (technically its hers)

Hi guys

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm going on a guided tour of the plain later this year, and want to record to route so I can do it again under my own steam. I reckon using a phone app would be best.

Make sure you buy a 1:25,000 map.

You should be able to save the route as a GPX file which is a fairly standard format.
There are plenty of web sites where you can download other peoples GPX adventures and then use them yourself. 2023 P440e SE Dynamic on order -cancelled
