LR Warranty renewal

Guys I’m slightly confused about LR extended warranty renewal. The general consensus on here is that LR warranty doesn’t cover snapped cranks. How I’ve just been invited to renew my extended warranty and in the “Select” warranty it specifically states that crankshaft is covered.

WHAT YOUR LAND ROVER SELECT EXTENDED WARRANTY COVERS
Your Land Rover Select Extended Warranty is for vehicles that are over three years old and have covered no more than 100,000 miles at the time of purchase.
Engine
Failure of the following internal mechanical parts only: Starter ring gear, flywheel, oil pump, crankshaft and bearings, timing gears, Variable Valve Timing control unit (VVT), timing chain and cam belt, camshafts, cam followers, tappet gear, valves and guides, pistons and rings, cylinder bores, con rods, cylinder head, cylinder head gaskets and all internal bushings (excluding lacquered valves.....

As you can see it specifically mentions crankshaft. Should I renew or go elsewhere. Any helpful opinions appreciated. 2016 L494 SDV6 HSE Dynamic Carpathian Grey

That topic is from 18 months ago. I've spoken to my local dealer who says it is covered, the wording published by rudadu states that the crankshaft is covered. Stop the scaremongering please.

I’ve got an email from them saying it is covered. Warranty-admin or whatever their name is. It’s a 3rd party insurance company not JLR.

Of course there are t&cs but provided you don’t breach those, I’m satisfied it’s covered. Nothing onerous, just make sure it’s serviced and not used for racing etc,

The only thing to look for is the max claim limit between the select and non-select warranty, I believe one does have a limit. MY15.5 HSE

Having had a crank issue last year I can explain my experience.

Dealer stated clearly that the issue I faced [crank seized probably due to oil starvation] was not covered by the extended warranty. That does not mean no crank issues are covered, but the specific issue I had was not.

In my case, the bill was covered 100% by a Land Rover goodwill payment. ------------------------------------------------------------------

Thanks for the feedback guys. Dobby you’re correct “select” warranty has a £3000 per claim limit!!!! Don’t know how that would cover crankshaft🤔. Anyhow got a decent quote from Warranty Direct for 2 years so will probably go with them. Will phone them to confirm crankshaft cover though😉. 2016 L494 SDV6 HSE Dynamic Carpathian Grey

not LR Warranty but Warranty Direct - I had a steering issue (power steering failed) and warranty direct picked up the tab. Only had the policy for a few weeks before issue happened and claim was about 4k. Found them to be sensational and trustworthy. They even dispatched a engineer to the main dealer as they weren't forthcoming with detailed information and were likely to deny claim. Their engineer investigated and they authorised the works.

Nothing but praise for them.

I got 2 quotes. £450 for one year and £810 for two years. All additional options chosen and had £250 excess. Hope that helps and I’m not breaking any forum rules doing so. I found them to be cheapest “big” name for me. If I’m keeping the car I would go with them, still deciding. 2016 L494 SDV6 HSE Dynamic Carpathian Grey
