Here is the pricing - you need to add on roads but I assume it includes GST and Luxury car tax.

https://www.whichcar.com.au/news/2020-land...an-pricing

At this pricing the new Defender will only be competing against other Landrover products - middle to higher level is in D5/RRS territory. The Jap opposition in the same segment is far cheaper.

LR have lost the plot on pricing like the D5 this vehicle will be a dud - but not because of the vehicle which is great but because of greedy LR pricing.

I hope there will be a few early adopters as with the horrific LR depreciation and resale value compared to the Jap opposition I will be in a good position to buy a low km Defender HSE in about 2 years for around half the new car asking price.

It will not be a lemon but for the cost of the higher spec ones you can get a mid spec diesel RRS and the RRS will have more fruit and be just as capable.

The 110 p400 SE is cheaper than the base SE Sport and fully functional for
Off road, by the time you add the extras to the Sport to make it comparable,
such as low range /off road pack, it works out to be at least 20-30k more
expensive.. the modern RRS is just a school run special with minimal nod

The Ingenium engines are JLR designed and built, not from BMW. Although JLR are doing a deal with BMW to collaborate on drive trains.

My local dealer's sales manager assures me that the Ingenium straight 4 petrol has not had any issues - how could I doubt him?! L405 P400e Autobiography (MY2020)... Silicon Silver / Espresso

Update on the Zilch family Deffo 2020 model

Well we have made our mind up and proceeding with the order on a 110 SE P400 in Eiger Grey/Black roof,
explorer pack, ediff, 5+2 seating etc.. after test driving the 240HP diesel in a D5, i just thought it would grate on
me, the lack of smoothness, the noise under load .. especially when you add it into a defender that weighs a whole
lot more. The current spec:

Current delivery targets for Australia are May/June.. so put a deposit down to secure a build spot

The Sport will be staying, we need an older bush basher Whistle Laughing Another Pommie Bar Steward down under

order and full deposit placed on Saturday for the P400 (297KW) 110 SE in Eiger grey, added a few
options such as black contrast roof, black pack, black alloys, ediff, tow pack, raised air intake
and an extra 2 seats in the back ... now to wait for confirmation of the build date Twisted Evil

Approx $10K more expensive than the UK build for the same vehicle, although in the UK they can only
get the P300 engine in the SE.. so maybe a level of equivalence ..

Waiting for BK to extract the michael Whistle Rolling with laughter Thumbs Up Another Pommie Bar Steward down under

But I dont like the Black Pac - can you delete it please as I want the vehicle I will buy in a couple of years at a very depreciated price to suit my climate better Cool

Come to think of it - maybe you should have waited for the I6 diesel as we are still a diesel focused country and as you seem to have appreciated as you ordered the petrol, the little diesels are a bit mediocre.

Laughing nope you will have to take it in about 10-12 years Whistle

But to be honest, the P400 is only 1 sec slower than a supercharged sport Shocked i reckon i will need to
get the licence reinforced Thumbs Up especially on double demerit weekends

I tested the D4 240HP in the D5, which is significantly lighter, too much noise, lack of smoothness, overall
not a pleasant experience Another Pommie Bar Steward down under

At least its got "Soul" Zilchy, in spades actually Laughing

Black roof in QLD and NSW may be a bit warm.

All of this has prompted me to think if I might like an old 90 Series as a runaround, I would need to tune it up a bit of course to get some more horsies.

I have been in Blighty for 10 days, so maybe the continual cool and wet weather in the deepest Dorset countryside where there are copious amounts of mud is affecting my brain function.

Dorset will do that to you BK Laughing i actually passed my driving test in doorrseettt in an Airportable 90 Thumbs Up
not long after the Army had swept away chariots Laughing

I tried buying one of the last 110 a few years back before moving to Hong Kong, i was going to store it, but
LR Australia wanted stupid money basically a 55K car for over 80K by the time i took the loss on the Sport as
part of trade in..

So from next year i will be a 2 millstone family Whistle we are keeping the Sport, the boss insists Big Cry
