Auto Wipers Not Working

Hi all, here goes with today's weird and wonderful fault on my RRS..

I have thought for a while that the Auto wipers don't work, but confirmed it over the weekend. When you lift the wipers switch up from "OFF" to "AUTO" nothing happens!! If you turn the ring to vary the interval it gives a wipe, but then nothing there after.

i then lift it up to slow contant speed and they work fine, but this makes the cruise control cancel its self!!!

Is there any possible link between the wipers and the cruise control?

As ever thanks in advance for any help or advise. I have only owned the RRS since June, but it has already given me more problems than the four FFRR i have owned previously over many years. I'm sure my love for these cars will not be dented though.. Current: 2010 RRS 3.6 TDV8 HSE

Shouldn't really be connected, which other problems have you got/had?
problems with water ingress?
any faults displayed?
any OBD2 error codes?

had a load of lights displayed last week, but i put that down to battery issues. The car had not been used for weeks, even the most stubborn lights reset after a good run and haven't shown again since. have checked floor and carpets dry too. I will get there in the end! The old RR Classic and early discoveries had problems with vacuum pipes stopping cruises working, but all electronics now.. Sad Current: 2010 RRS 3.6 TDV8 HSE

Anyone got any thoughts on this? Just been out and checked a few relevant fuses and went for a drive. Cruise control works fine until I operate the wipers and off it goes. Very strange! Current: 2010 RRS 3.6 TDV8 HSE

Been a while, but I’ve got round to looking into this over the last couple of days. Everything stripped and cleaned, new gel pad fitted between sensor box and windscreen. Poured water over windscreen and bobs yer uncle wipers work, lots of water speed increases and keeps wiping till clear. I then put a towel over the sensor and the headlights come on. Went for a drive and the cruise control still drops out when you use the wipers, just don’t get it!

Any thoughts would be really appreciated!

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I always thought you shouldn’t use cruise control when it’s wet due to risk of aquaplaning. Could this be a safety feature?

I use my cruise control all the time in all my cars, I’ve had loads of green oval cars over the years also and none of them have done this! If you go into a tank slapper as it were due to water, I don’t think having the cruise on will make that much difference. Does your cruise trip out when use use your wipers?

It just doesn’t make sense to me the link between the wipers and the cruise, there must be a common link somewhere. Current: 2010 RRS 3.6 TDV8 HSE
