First SVR service - 5 issues

Took my 19.5 SVR service in this morning for its first service with 770 miles on the odometer. Curious what other members think of these issues for a brand new vehicle. I have engaged LR North America to assist. I have been assigned to a SVO Technician at my dealer and they were surprised at the issues and have been helpful so far. Not sure what will happen. I love the vehicle but concerned about the quality having not surpassed 1,000 miles as of yet. Big Cry

1.) top of lower bumper is deformed with an actual bump that makes contact with the upper grill causing the lower corner to pop out - it won’t stay inserted into the connector.

2.) indentation on dash near center speaker. There is a noticeable line in the leather (is it real leather?).

3.) front passenger leadliner has dropped along with center. Headliner refuses to stay up in the connector. It is visually lower.

4.) rear tailgate out of alignment. One side has double the gap compared to the other.

5.) upper seat cooling doesn’t appear to work.

1- same on my MY20 car

2- standard LR leather quality and I'd be in two minds getting them to take the dash out as that will just bring more problems into the mix see if you can get a *PROPER* leather repair specialist to use some gentle heat and massaging to make it look better then ask your LR dealer to pick up the tab - if they do it wrong though they'll ruin the leather

3- that needs to be fixed and shouldn't bee too intrusive a job - shoddy build quality though

4- standard LR quality control issue just make sure its not catching anything when it opens and closes as thats when it becomes an expensive problem

5- are you sure, its very faint in the top part of the seat? again you dont want them messing with the seat thats when the rattles begin, test it against another car at the dealership before you log it Non JLR Vehicle

Thanks for the replies. I am waiting for the dealer to get back to me regarding the front bumper deformity, lines in dash, and seat cooling. The rest I assume could be fixed without problems. I don’t know what my rights are for these issues but if they want to rip apart the dash to repair the lines I won’t be having it.

He lives in the USA, perhaps you cant reject cars there. Worth finding out about your rights as its unacceptable anywhere. If rejection is possible, that's what I would be doing. For some of these faults the dealer would probably get a third party to attend to them Censored

Terrible on a new car
Invoke the 'lemon rule'
Demand your money back

Claims are easier in the USA compared to U.K.

Good luck ! --------------------------------

JJVD21 whilst you're here and we have similar cars - does yours have a lot of interior rattles or is it all rather silent? Non JLR Vehicle

Bad news: Just received a call from the dealer. They have said they need to take out and replace the dashboard in order to fix the lines. I anticipate additional problems / rattles as a result of the replacement and I told them not to do it. They also want to take off the front bumper and replace it. They did note that exact paint match could be a problem. Dealer has been great to work with they are disappointed that the vehicle passed inspection. I will be dealing with LRNA now as I don’t want a replacement dash or a different bumper put on. I have less than 800 miles on the SVR and with these kinds of problems I don’t have a good feeling about future issues.

Good news: They have apparently ordered parts to fix the dropped headliner. They have corrected the misaligned tailgate. They have also updated the software which apparently fixed the seat cooling function.

To be continued.....

As it relates to rattles: the headliner rattles badly so I don’t hear anything else. One recommendation for anyone is to check your tire pressures. Mine were at 54 on all corners when I took delivery. In the menu I selected “Light load” , it was delivered with “Heavy load”. The lighter load setting calls for substantially lower tire pressures which helps with a softer ride and presumably less rattles.

Good tip I will check that thanks !!!

Also yeah I wouldn't accept a dash being taken out at 800 miles in.

If you can live with it or get them to pick up a leather specialist to get it 99% then fine, but taking the dash out will be a pain.

Also my bumper is exactly the same as yours with the pinch points I've just left it to be honest, given up trying to hold JLR accountable for their QC wastes too much of my time and achieves very little so I'll just drive it and sell it. Non JLR Vehicle

DMUK - but does your grille pop out of position as a result of it rubbing on the deformities on the top of the bumper? Mine does. That is alarming that yours has a similar issue.

No I'm not sure its that bad - will take a picture tomorrow and upload - its on both sides of the grille on mine !

I've got loads of QC issues if it helps you Smile

- Passenger seat has indentations on leather and marks on rear cover
- Passenger seat has a long leather imperfection mark down one side of the bolster
- Drivers seat rear cover spends most of if's life creaking
- Bodywork near grille is malformed in the same two places as your vehicle
- Tailgate makes noises over uneven surfaces
- Panoramic roof makes noises over uneven surfaces
- Some of my rear panels start making loud cracking noises when they heat up in the sun
- Passenger side B-Pillar where the seatbelt comes out of has a mind of its own sound wise
- Metal clunking noise from under rear of car and pinging noise also from somewhere towards the lower rear area
- Popping audio and low quality sound from Apple Car Play and Android Auto

Thats just off the top of my head as well and as far as I'm concerned thats a pretty decent car - I've had cars off of JLR in the past that have been far far worse, I just put up with it now.

EDIT- Updated with fuller list Non JLR Vehicle

Dangermouse, you must be very easy going to accept what you are saying regarding your car. Accepting shoddy workmanship means they think they are doing a good job as there are no complaints, so why change it. If it aint broke why fix it.
If your previous cars were worse than that, why would you continue with the brand..
I have no complaints with my car, but cannot understand why people with genuine complaints, don't complain.
Words fail me Censored

I don’t expect perfection but these items on a $150k vehicle aren’t acceptable in my opinion.
