Permanently disable Intelligent Stop/Start?

Can Intelligent Stop/Start be permanently disabled or do I have to press the centre console button every time I start the car? 2016 L494 SDV8 AB

I believe it is a regulatory requirement for emissions reduction to have it. Mr Tyrefitter will be able to tell us if it is checked at MOT as part of the emissions tests as he is an MOT tester. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Agree that it is part of the requirement for emission reduction but every test on this has confirmed that the saving is insignificant. LR would be better off looking elsewhere for emission reduction savings rather than cheesing of their customers who are paying their wages.

Nothing in the MOT manual about stop/start having to work so it isn't a mot requirement yet. Andy.

If it was an MOT requirement, how would a tester force the auto stop? If the battery was a bit low then there might be a long wait with the engine running for it to decide it could stop. All a bit too random for a test scenario. 2016 L494 SDV8 AB

That’s true BiffoBear, the stop/start didn’t work on my SC as the stop/start battery was on its way out & I never replaced it for the reason I don’t use the stop/start,first thing I do after turning on the heated seats & steering wheel is turn the stop/start off. Andy.

I've only had the car a week and I haven't got my brain programmed yet to automatically press the button after starting. I don't really want to disconnect the auxiliary battery so I guess I'll just wait until it becomes second nature to press the button. 2016 L494 SDV8 AB

There are a few USA tuning companies that alter the ecu to only engage stop start when the rpm’s are at exactly 1000 - which never happens. Seems like an effective solution so long as the cost is minimal.
