So I'm going to install my towbar and electrics tomorrow and apparently SDD is needed to tell the car that the kit is there and disable parking sensors etc.

Anyone in the SW able to make this change in exchange for a beer token or two?

It’s not exclusively SDD but as most other diagnostic systems are locked to VIN or require a multi vehicle subscription it may be a better option. Or if someone can lend you a GAP tool you could pay the fee for an extra vehicle to be added. 2019 5.0 SC SVA (Current)

Have you thought about buying a pass through? I bought a good quality copy that uses Chinese components built in the USA and an live SDD. All in was £190 but I think you could get it a little cheaper.

I have the GAP IID in the glove box as it’s easy to use and connects to my phone via BT. I can use it in minutes pretty much anywhere so it’s a good bit of kit but it wont do everything. I have SDD for more in depth fault finding etc which it’s good at but it takes a bit of setting up and drains the battery like you’ve never seen! 2019 5.0 SC SVA (Current)

Hi Ditto to the OP. Anybody in South East able to spare 10 mins of SDD to enable towbar logic on 2016MY Sport? Or is there are reasonably priced system that I can invest in? Earlier SDDs are no good I'm told...

Obviously not! Ok i the system is fitted and operational after I eventually discovered how to initialise it. What exactly is SDD telling the car, does anybody have any technical info?

I’m assuming it may include disabling rear parking sensors, maybe adjusting shift patterns etc? I’m trying to understand how urgent this programming is as at garage as it doesn’t seem anyone in the South east can help with this little task?

As far as I understand it the coding will

Turn the reversing sensors off
disable the car's rear fog light
stop the car from entering certain suspension modes

That's about it I believe, certainly I've had no issues towing so far and I too am yet to find anyone with coding ability

Predictably all indies wanted car booking in etc etc. £100 at LR for basically plugging computer in and sending a file to it. Anyway rear sensors silent when tow plug inserted and car cleaned throughout. It least I didn’t pay them £2k for deployable towbar 👍 3.0 SDV6 HSE L494

They don’t even load a file, it’s just turning the option on. But I wouldn’t worry or rush to get it done. 2019 5.0 SC SVA (Current)
