Lost Power on Motorway

hi,
I am new to this forum and hoping someone can help me, I purchased a 2007 Range Rover sport 2.7tdv6 three months ago and aren’t having much luck. In the short time I have had it it’s had new heated seats, new heater matrix and a new turbo pipe, the current issue is- while driving on the motorway I lost acceleration but the engine was still idling, it showed every warning there is on the dash ( engine fault, gear fault, hdc fault, parking brake fault + every warning symbol was on ) it rolled to a stop on the hard shoulder, I turned off and tried to restart but it wouldn’t. I had it towed to the mechanic who did the previous work but he specializes in Petrol models so is stuck. He cleared all previous fault codes and turned it over producing 1 new code,
Incorrect fuel pressure. He contacted Land Rover direct who said although not 100% it will be the high pressure fuel pump at a cost of around £1500. I have spoken to another independent LR specialist who says it won’t be the pump, it will be the fuel filter as the car is overdue it’s service and have no idea how well it had been serviced before.
I admit I rushed into the purchase of this vehicle but am determined to make the best of it.
I hope someone can steer me in the right direction as I am getting conflicting information and obviously don’t want to spend £1500 and it still not work.
Thanks for you patience in reading the lengthy post

As I belive a bad battery/alternator or possibly brake light switch or bad bulb can cause all the warning lights etc. to come on and flash amongst other things, you also say it won't start, is the engine actualy turning over or just dead, I think I would give the battery a good charge and go from there, start from the cheapest option first and work up.

Cheers
Col

Thanks for reply, the battery is fully charged, the mechanic is going to check the fuel filter tomorrow to see if that is clogged

Might be worth checking the intank fuel pump as well. If it’s an old or blocked filter it could of damaged the pump. 2008 G4 RRSport TDV8 current

Were you doing a steady maintained speed?

This has happened to me a couple of times. Fuel filter, low pressure (in tank) pump, high pressure pump in that order of checking. The first 2 are cheap to do.

Update
We have ruled out fuel filter, low pressure pump so fitting high pressure pump on Saturday. Fingers crossed
Got genuine pump and belt kit for £710 + £250 fitting so not as bad as I thought.

Hi, yes he has tested it now, it’s only pushing at 40 bar I think he said so he’s pretty certain it’s the hp pump
