I am in the process of downloading the latest map update onto a USB stick (which seems to be taking a VERY long time!).

The installation instructions suggest that the engine should be running to update the map on the car.

Any idea how long the update takes (once the USB stick is plugged into the car)?

If it takes as long as the download to the USB stick I may need to ensure I have a full tank of diesel!!!!

I presume you are downloading from the HERE website for the current mapping system?

If so, then it around 22GB and depends on your connection speed, probably several hours!!

I presume it downloads the full data set, because there is no way of knowing how old your installed maps are.

What link did you use to get the update from?

When I looked it said I had to put a USB in to get some data so that it knows what to update but I can't seem to find the option on the screen.

And one last question, which USB port do you plug the stick into? 2016 Black SDV8 Autobiography

How long will it take to download the map data?
The complete download process may take up to 2.5 hours dependent on the amount of information in the map region download. An example of current USB download times is shown in the following list:
• Europe - 2 hours 25 minutes
• NAS - 2 hours 03 minutes
• Russia - 29 minutes"

What happens if I switch the ignition off during the download?

PLEASE REFER TO THE DETAILED MAP UPDATE INSTRUCTION GUIDE INCLUDED IN THE USB PACKAGE RECEIVED.

During the Map upload process IF the ignition is switched off and the vehicle is shutdown, providing the USB stick IS NOT removed the upload will continue when the car is started again.
If the USB memory stick is removed from the USB port during the Map Upload process; the ignition must be switched off, the vehicle locked, then unlocked. The ignition should be switched back on and the USB memory stick re-inserted to enable the Map upload to be completed.

30 minutes? I just put the 2018 update in from USB and it took approx 2 1/2 hours, done in one go. It did start slow, almost at standstill in bits then was much faster towards the end.

Just for info I have now successfully installed the latest update on my 2019MY Sport.

The download to the USB Stick seemed to take 'forever' buy maybe that was delayed by my PC dropping into sleep mode at times during the download??

Anyway the installation process was completed in approx 15 minutes.
