Extra Security required after 3 RRS were stolen near me.

I'm looking at adding some extra security to my RRS after 3 were taken yesterday within 15 miles of me. Apparently their is a gang operating locally targeting RRS.

What are people using ? I was thinking maybe the steering wheel disklock as it seems most targeted are keyless entry cars that can be taken with electric equipment available online or with a laptop without damage or noise.

Read earlier that mechanical security device sales are on the up as most car theft is now down to electronic security devices being easy to get round if you know what your doing and equipment needed to pinch them can be purchased on the internet

Has anyone got any recommendations of things they use to stop there car being taken? 2017 SVR. SVO Scafell grey Ebony interior

I use the Disklock, I keep my keys in a Faraday Pouch, I’ve had my ODB port moved. It’s covered by 4 cctv HD cameras. There’s not much more I can do. I don’t want a Tracker, if they did nick it, I wouldn’t want it back MY 13 3.0 SDV6 HSE Black Edition

I would be impressed Andy if you can wake up, get down stairs, put shoes on and stop them driving off from the moment it's started.

Short of locking it in a garage or sleeping in it with a big dog for company, you're a bit at their mercy, to be honest. If they want it they'll take it. If there's more than one of them then they'll take it even if you get to the front door in time.

You could try an OBD Port disabling system - there are several about - or an alarm that is so loud - think 150dB - that they just can't be near it once it goes off. It needs to be separate to the key though - something you have to disable before unlocking the car. That way they can't disable it by doing the usual cloning type attacks.

I remember back in the 90s there was an alarm that filled the vehicle with smoke that behaved a bit like CS gas. I doubt such things exist today, however. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

I'm sure I remember reading somewhere someone moved the OBD port to another position and fitted a dummy port, which they then somehow wired to a 12volt supply so that anything plugged in to it created a dead short and" fried" what ever had been plugged in, which I suppose would give a certain amount of satisfaction. Slightly unfortunate if a dealer plugged in T4 without knowing. Twisted Evil

Cheers
Col
