Been having a number of dash errors and faults come up on my RRS. Changed battery and made sure connections were good.

Been ok for a week until today. Didn't want to start, hazards flashing etc. Started after leaving it a while.

I have noticed that when first started, the voltage charge is 14.4volts, but after about 10 minutes of driving, it drops to 13.2v. is this a sign of a tired alternator? Could this explain the many fault messages, etc?

It is normal for the alternator to churn out higher voltage after starting and then regulate down after a while.

How are you measuring the voltage? The most simple accurate way is to put a digital multimeter across the battery terminals. Check the voltage at start up, let it run for few minutes and then switch on some high drain components like the lights and heated seats. If the alternator is good it will be able to keep the volts up at about 14 if you raise the revs a little.

But have you checked the battery with engine off, after standing overnight. I'm wondering if you have something draining the battery. Anything less than about 12.3volts suggests something is wrong. Common culprit is the upper rear hatch switch. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

The battery is showing 12.6v before starting.

I have a plug-in voltage reader which goes in the cigarette socket! That's how I am reading voltage.

Mine shows around 15v with the engine running which I thought was high but a couple of the experts on here said its perfectly normal.

15 is quite normal get a volt meter across the terminals your battery might need a good charge depends how long it was on the shelf
