Hello all, i was playing around with my Gap diagnostic tool on my 2006 range rover sport, got a funny fault code. the code was under tyre pressure, c1a64-93 6c spare wheel tire pressure sensor and transmitter assembly-component failure-no operation.
i am well surprised, the spare wheel has a tyre pressure sensor? if anyone can shed some wisdom on this i would be most Grateful. Cheers Neil.

Although the TPMS system on a RRS1 is about as much use as a chocolate teapot, if it has a full size spare it may well have a sensor fitted as it is/was a option, if you check your spare wheel if it has a sensor it will be a metal valve stem, if not chances are it will be a rubber stem.

You could fit the spare to a wheel position and leave the car for 15 minutes, it should detect the change but not sure that always works, only a thought but might be a way of checking if the sensor is o.k. Would have thought if it was a receiver issue you would have yellow warning light showing on dash.

a spare sensor is more useful.

No point having a spare, come to use it and find it has no air in it !

Quite common that, if the spare has been under the car for 10 years and never touched!
Even more likely if the pressure valve points the wrong way, so you can't get access without removal

Thanks Col and Andy, good points. it has been raining quite heavy for days here and could not bring myself to crawl under to have a look. there was no light on the dash, trouble code, just scanning codes for my blinking PDC rear parking sensors. all of the sudden i see this spare tyre code. soon as it stops raining an under carriage look see is in order.
