Phone screen mirroring

Has anyone done this? I see xcarlink and other US providers offer plugins to the head unit to do it. I'm tempted (would love to get Waze on the main screen as well as other things), but I've no idea where to start to get behind the head unit (MY2017). I've seen a YouTube video of similar in an Evoque and the whole leather dash panel has to come of. Anyone know if it's the same in the RRS and if so, how it's done?

Thanks

I think I have seen someone talking about using the HDMI inputs to mirror the screen. Should just be a case of getting an adapater and plugging in. One important thing to note is the touch input won’t work back to the phone so it will be audio / visual only.

I've seen both wired and wireless solutions advertised, latter of course preferable to me.

As said, the touch screen wouldn’t work so the phone would have to be visible and in a cradle, so why bother?

Genius Maps and Sygic are both very good sat nav programs if you have Apps.

Does the HDMI input show on the screen when the car is moving ~>3mph/5kmh? I didn‘t try that myself, but I would assume it turns the screen off.

My expectation would be whatever is shown on the phone remains showing at all times (regardless of speed) on the screen if the HDMI/wireless input is selected.

I was just assuming, because the TV picture turns off without dual view screen, and the built-in browser as well (if you have a SIM card installed), when moving above walking speed. Why should it be different with HDMI input, it can distract the driver as well. LR does not know what you are viewing over HDMI, you could be streaming TV over the phone?

Remember this is not a Land Rover approved modification and as such I presume the makers will assume the user will use it responsibly, as suggested by the disclaimers on the various sites supplying these.
