Valuation

Thinking of moving on, where's the best place to get a reliable valuation for my Sport? MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems.

Hi,
Use as many as you can and a realistic average should become clear
If you are going to p/ex then Glasses guide will no doubt be what the trade use
Wbac gives a good idea of last chance saloon, but it works directly from real time auction prices so can give false true values if a lot of the same spec cars have just gone through and not achieved a good price Rolling Eyes
Have a look at Landrovers online guide price for p/ex we were near the top value on ours and lower end of the one we bought

P/ex still boils down to Price to Change

My dealer has told me they use We Buy Any Car dot com as a benchmark for valuing cars now.

Stick your plate in and have a go. If you are brave you could always add £5-6k and try selling it privately?

Hi,
Last month wbac were valuing 2015 and 2016 Dynamics at £2k Less than a HSE Shocked
But try and buy one for that, they were selling at £2k More, not less Shocked

Dealers must have had even more profit in the cars Big Cry

Don't use WBAC, they use an algorithm linked to Auction targets and what they have already going through the auctions. All their cars go to Auction so if they have a lot of one car they can't sell they will price low, rather than what the whole market is currently dictating. I valued my car on there 2 weeks ago and it was £10k less than it was at the start of this week!

CAP is still the best indicator, but if you don't have access to that then use Parkers p/x values as your bottom bench mark. SOLD - MY16 SDV6 Autobiography Dynamic - Fire Engine Red, Fixed contrast pan roof, TV, Dual Screen, 5+2, Privacy, Noble paddles.

Wilf,

I tried a number of places, webuyanycar, Evans Halshaw online and called a number of dealers. One kindly put me in touch with an Indy as he knew I would get a better price.

Best p/x for a new MY18 SVR order I could get was £55k. Webuyanycar quoted £56.5k and Evans Halshaw £56k. The Indy offered £60k and clearly, that is where it went.

United Kingdom 2008 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HST Java Black

Seems the release of the new model has got prices plummeting!

Went to see a 65 plate AB today with 10k on the clock up at £65k at a JLR dealer and they knocked £5k off before I even got there if I bought today!

I think I could have got it for £58k but I prefer Yulong to plain white, the search continues.....

If you want Cap values do a new car search on carwow, you then get access to cap valuations, however as I said on the other thread certain dealer groups are selling nice, low mileage RRS2 at 3-4 years old for 2k less than Cap clean! This is crazy, they keep going on about cheapest on the net price promise, if I was in that position I'd keep it rather than take the pittance they must have been offered!

It's pure supply and demand, if dealers have cars advertised at £2k less than cap and they haven't sold then the cap price is too high. My view is that the anti-diesel stories have hit our car very badly. No one knows where diesel car prices will be in say 3 years and high price cars could cost a fortune in depreciation. On the other hand if you believe the diesel scare is overdone perhaps there are bargains to be had.

Timhum try speaking to others in the trade except LR dealers, they are paying well above Cap clean for used Rrs, even at the markets they are making well above book money on basic cars, something stinks here as the 8 JLR dealers I have sat down with in the last 8 weeks to buy a new £85k plus car they all have the same storey "we cannot pay anymore than Cap clean" that is some big group dealers down to 1 site family owned JLR dealerships, I think JLR are trying to control this for their gain. The dealer I've bought my new one from could give me a better deal on straight sale with no trade in than they could with me trading in my car which they would easily have got £65k for on current prices, had £6k across it & gave me a genuine £59k, instead they bid me Cap clean £54k which I've not taken & bought the new one on a straight sale with a higher discount than when the trade in was in the equation? I can't fathom this but everyone of the 8 JLR dealers were intimating the same thing.

As I said on the other thread I'll start my own trade book 10% below Cap then they would all use that as Cap is not correct anyway when prestige dealers are paying well above Cap and selling good JLR stock like hot cakes for good margins!

If what you say that has happened at 8 LR dealerships was repeated across the LR group, I'm sure this could be outside some of the current trading laws.
Might be time to report this if you have any proof? Thumbs Up John

From these valuations it sounds like the easiest way to buy one of these is via a 3 year PCP rather than cash? Pay for the depreciation and just hand it back? Esp given LR seem to structure PCP with a low monthly and a large balloon. I doubt there's any equity in the end of the PCP given the trade-in values listed above? As least you don't have the hassle of selling or being bent over on p/x.

Mind you, looks like PCP financing will go pop soon!
