I asked because I have roof bars and no rails. you can get roof bars that will use 2 of the 3 pairs of fixed mounting points on the roof, but these are quite a long way apart and too far for most roof boxes (but fine for a kayak, say). You can get these from roofbox.com. Alternatively you can get the bars that clamp around the door openings. roofbox.com do them as do halfords I think, and ebay.
