2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Santorini Black
Water leaking out of tailgate

So, got in to our car yesterday, went out with the family, parked up to get the pram out the boot, to a lovely surprise of a waterfall running out the boot catch, lasted for a good 20 seconds, then was dripping, was like a mass build up of water getting out, same happened today(it has been raining), now it's leaking out of my electronic boot open switch, picture attached, which is worrying.

Any one know where I could look for the water getting in? It took me over 2 weeks to get the car in to my local dealer for them to check something, so I don't want to wait another 2 weeks to get this in and cause more damage than it should if actioned now.

Try with a small flow from a hosepipe, or watering can with the nozzle off, to expose the door to water a small area at a time. Mind you, from experience I know how hard it can be to find out where water is getting in - it drove me half mad once. Alternatively, do a key-word search, you can't be the only one having this experience.

I had a similar problem after washing the car. I took mine to the dealers who had it all of a couple of hours! They told me the water was coming in through a couple of holes where the clips that hold the chrome strip on that runs right across the width of the tailgate. It was sealed with silicone and has never occurred again.

Don't know if this helps you at all, but gives you a wee hint of where the trouble may be.

I guess at least the tailgate is plastic and it won't rust. 2017 MY17 SDV6 SE
