Apart from the painting and production of the stainless steel lower tailgate, I restored it myself, and I am not very mechanical, when they say they are just big meccano sets they weren't joking, biggest problem for me was remembering where all the nuts and bolts needed to go back!!

It is a fantastic car to drive, even by modern standards, and just in case you think £135k is too much, I paid £400 for a NOS petrol filler cap, I was at the Land Rover factory in Solihull yesterday as they are interested in it as it is a 1st production year car.

Oh and the filler cap design was dreadful, really hard to take off, they changed it 2 years later. but I love mine as it is right for the age of the car.

That is really beautiful David. Out of interest what are the tyres on the car. They look like the original Michelins but I didn't think they were available any more. SDV8 arrived and fantastic even the infotainment!

They are original fit tyres, they were new old stock, a couple of years ago, no cracks so are fine to use, especially as they use inner tubes.

Just be careful with old tyres, they WILL harden and lose substantial grip. If those are 20 - 30+ years old, they are effectively life expired, even if they have no cracking.

Ozone and UV are the reasons. Even though my own classic car does only about 1000 miles a year, I change the tyres every 5 years for this very reason.

Once binned a valuable classic on a track because of this. Cost me a lot - hurt me both in the wallet and in the body. Lesson learned. MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems.
