hi paddi thx for the reply when I put the second alternator on I put another new battery at the same time so its cost a few quid lol hopefully mick (flack) will come and check it out for me but any info would be great

You could give all the heavy duty connections (battery and alternator) a good clean up. |

WD40 is good for cleaning connections, it's mildly acidic so it cleans the crud and rust off.
