A few questions.....

Hi guys, I'm thinking of buying a RRS petrol SC.

First of all, how reliable is the petrol ?

Im probably looking at the MY10 or MY12 version. Can you tell me the differences ?

Also, which options are best to look out for ?

And if I can't find one from a Land Rover dealer, which warranty should I buy ?

Thanks

I bought a supercharged petrol because of the reliability. May cost a bit more in fuel but saves in the repair costs of a diesel which arent so reliable in my eyes. or atleast this is what i tell myself Smile

Yes, I'm hoping to buy through a LR dealer but that generation are not often available.

The cars I've seen on Autotader are between £25-£32k.

There seems to be quite a difference in price between the MY10 and MY12, just trying to see if it's worth paying the extra. I like the look of both exteriors.

The differences on the 2012 upgrade are well worth the extra money.I prefer Diesels any day of the week.
Better MPG
Better Performance
8 speed box against 6 on earlier model.
Electric lightweight one piece tailgate.
LED Lighting.
The list does go on for some time..

Purchasing at LR dealers you also get:
24 month Warranty
24 month Breakdown recovery,
24 month MOT Warranty to cover anything that goes wrong, except wear and tear common items.
Half day LR experience day, where you take around the model of your choice over the various off road routes, hills, rocks, waterways etc. Wink John

RRS MY12 SDV6 HSE. Sumatra Black/Ebony & Walnut + Dynamic Pack, + Cold Climate Pack + Memory Pack, Digital TV/DVD, Premium Leather, Cornering Lights, Cooler/Fridge Box, & most Options.

The 5.0L RRS1 S/C never had the 8 speed box fitted it was not rated high enough to take the S/C power output, it was uprated for the RRS2.

Cheers

Hmm..

Petrol is very unreliable..
Any little spark will set it off, and even in cold weather.

And should You leave it outside, without a suitable container,
You will find it gone when You come back..

Diesel is more stable, needs a lot of more effort to set off..
And stays where You left it, even after a considerable time..

Any RRS is among the most stolen cars in the UK, petrol or diesel it doesn't matter. Also I don't think that there has ever been a report of a petrol RRS self igniting................... whereas there have been reported cases of 2.7 TDv6's self combusting in the very early days, along with Disco3's - it was a problem with a batch of HP fuel systems on the TDV6 engine and then it was limited to a small number of cars. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced
2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care
Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW

My experience of a RRS1 SC has been very positive a 2006 with 150k on the clock. Still performs as well as it did 10 years ago and never needed anything other that service items. If you can live with the consumption they are super vehicles.
