People spend far too much time and money cleaning their cars...
I wash maybe once a month, wax every 3 and machine polish every 2 years if needed.
Nothing special for wheels, my RRS doesn't need it, some wheels are prone to pitting but not land rovers.
But I do spend a lot of time off road so this is clean for me.
I like to apply a good coating of mud or grime whenever it gets washed off by the garage at service time. Nicely protects the paint below from people parking too close or brushing by it.
2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed
Well, as I had nothing to do, the weather was ok and the wife didn't want me under her feet I decided to give the motor a quick wash, or so I thought.
A few before, this was only washed Monday last week by the way.
Then my weapons of choice
Starting with the wheels, they had a good soak in powermaxed concentrated wheel cleaner at 25% dilution, then agitated and attacked with my wheel woolies
After rinse
Then went over the entire car with tfr, but when doing drivers side I purposely missed the rear door just to see the difference when power rinsing off.
Huge difference!
Then after cleaning again with tfr and rinsing, came the only snow I think we'll see he in the east this year.
And using a little tip from ardandy aka electric leaf man, I went around all the badges, door shuts, window seals and any small profiles with a brush.
After this I rinsed off then set to work with my 3 Buckets and waschpudel, Now this was where I was going to end it but then drying off the car I could feel how rough the doors and some of the panels were. So break out the tardis and red 7. Tardis up first
Surprisingly not much tar at all, but then after a rinse off the red7 was applied. O m g, I'm a wee bit embarrassed here.
Ended up having to hit the entire car 3 times
2nd hit
3rd hit
Then after that I went over it all again with a claybar using soapy water as lube, then rewashing the whole car again.
Rinsed off with my di vessel, then applied a coat of powermaxed winter coat sealant, then topped that off with chemical guys v07, just love the super glossy finish that gives. I was going to apply my ODK Glamour but it was getting dark and the air was turning moist, so I called it a day after finishing off the tyres and trim with autosmart histyle.
Do.you do a mobile call out service for detailing?

What paint system did you use on the edges of your side steps ? Was thinking of getting a set for my beast but don't want chrome or brushed finish...
No point in washing mine too often as living next to a farm in the wilds of Scotland it's always filthy before I ever hit a main road, but it does get treated occasionally to a jet wash and then Auto Glym shampoo and then a jet wash off... job done
I don't know how they painted them, all i do know is it's Audi Misano red LZ3M. They were done in 2012 like it.
I live in the flats of Norfolk, the closest thing i get to going off road, is driving across the pavement to park it in my garden.
But it does see about 300 miles a week so picks up some horrid grime and oil form other cars. And usually the rotting intestines of the local dead deer, which seem to be splattered about every 100 yrds or so on the A47!
