Replacing sun roof drainage tube in engine compartment

Evening,
Back again with this, have read all topics the whole www over.
So, briefly. RRS 06, LHD. Passenger footwell wet, had the sunroof drainage channels blown with compressed air, bit of gunk came out. A pillar exterior plugs replaced and taped patch applied. Windscreen cowl has been taped over.
We had 12 hours of heavy rain through saturday night. Sunday went out to the car and the passenger footwell was drenched. Pulled up the carpet and it was a swimming pool, using a towel i've soaked most of it up. Reckon about 5 litres came out. Sponges under the carpet were sodden.
Took the car back to the dealership (not LR) where i bought it from 3½ months ago, his proposal was that heavy rain goes through engine bay and perhaps a channel that is blocked. Alternately, do what his friend who owned a RRS did - drill a hole in the floor to drain the water......
Have taken off the fender side vents and now the drainage tube that was ok 2 months ago had the outer fixing rubber seal on the bottom of the air intake section and the drainage tube is now not poking through the hole.
How easy is it to replace this bottom part of the tubing. DIY or dealership?
Also the tube would have emptied into a foam sponge that was in the cavity:

This piece of foam was wet.

Hi.
I didn't put any silicone around the plugs. It was a firm push to get them in and the cover was solid after that. Will need to buy some new plugs if i now take the cover off the put some silicone there.
The foam piece is currently removed.

Hi, i read on here somewhere that it was important to put silicone around the clips on the A pillar or it wasn't worth doing. Also was it a slot that you covered over and what did you cover it with.... i used duct tape because other tapes will come off. Hope this helps , it done it for me Thumbs Up 2007, HSE, Cairnes Blue, Factory tints, Love it !!!

Hi, the patch with the plugs was used to cover the enlongated hole.

Reckon i will just buy a new set of plugs and start again, they seem to break easily when removing the A pillar plenum. 2019 RRS P400e Autobiography

After weeks of dry weather we had torrential downpour for 2 days and my passenger footwell is lined up as the next venue for Olympic diving.
took it to a specialist nearby and he presumed that the drainage pipe would need replacing. but there are none in stock in finland. will take 2 weeks, cost 7,60€ but will take approx an hour to install and labour is 99€ an hour.

what he kindly confirmed is that the whole wet floorwell is entirely from the front right drainage tube, and tested by pouring water over the sun roof.

now sun roof is taped up with nice and water tight and parts ordered.
hopefully the end is in sight.
thanks for all the help.

but i am still amazed that so much water can pass through the sunroof, i literally drained 3 liters of water out of the footwell and it's still sodden.

If you want to get rid of every last drop of water, buy a cheap dehumidifier off of ebay or other discount websites that runs off of the mains and put it in the car overnight, after you have fixed the leak .

So, 2 weeks after having the (what would be your ) drivers side sun roof drainage tube replaced, all seems to be 'dry'.

replacement tube cost a whopping 7,50€ and the work was 340€ - the one hour they spent testing where the leak was and then doing the quick fix and then 2 hours to replace the tube.

Now just to sort out the whistling that comes from the heating unit when i apply the brakes.

cheers for all the advice on the leak.

not quite following you?
but i hazard a guess that you're saying the 2 are related and the motor / fan for the climate control is under the glove box so would have been affected by the water dripping in from the sunroof? 2019 RRS P400e Autobiography

Hello. I have a RRS S/C 2005. LHD. My left/drivers window stoped working. I have found out that it can be
problems in some cables on on the right side below the carpet near the front door.
When checking the bundle of cables I found a lot of water coming from my sunroof drain pipe.
I have had the same problem with water earlier on the left side.
The drain pipes exit behind the side went/grill on left and right side and they can rotten or dry and
the smal part sticking outside from the hole are loose or gone and daring the water inside the cabin on the floor.
The right side exit of the drain tube is very difficult to reach from inside, the CJB is blocking its position.
I cut my drain tube behind the right A-pillar trim halfway up the front window and used a plastic/flexible
line down to exit for use it to pull a rubber pipe back up to the old part where i cut it.
With the flexibel-line in place I pulled the old end-part upp to my cutting place at the front window and
of course the flexible line left in place to guide the way up for my new rubber pipe.
This is maybe not the correct way but problem solved.
