Hi Lads

Lately when fitting the Detachable Towbar the release handle on the Towbar turns really far up clockwise and the hitch still appears to have a bit of movement in the socket in the rear crossmember.

Originally when I first got the hitch the release handle would sit level and the hitch felt more secure. I was wondering if there was any adjustment in this by say removing the little Stainless plate on the side of the hitch.

Have you had the recall done, some movement is permissible but it's worth getting it checked out.. 2008 G4 RRSport TDV8 current

Contacted my local Dealership by e-mail regarding the movement in my Towbar.
They left a message for me to book the car in for a check, but looking for a bit of help.The towbar I got with the car is marked Thule.
Is this original Land Rover or should it have Land Rover stamped on it, this being the case are they just going to fob me off because of this.

Is there any adjustment in these as said in my previous post the Release Handle is moving a lot further than it did originally.What happens when you remove the Small Stainless plate opposite the Release Handle .Is this only for replacing the Release handle,Any chance replacing the Handle mechanism would help.

Hi jock the Thule is OEM, the same as mine, I didn't have any problems but I know the lads who did thee recall. All you can do is see what they say on the day. Personally I think they'll still be happy to check/do the recall as they get paid by Land Rover, that's how it was when I worked at a dealership anyhow.. 2008 G4 RRSport TDV8 current

Well first impressions are Local Dealership want nothing to do with my enquiry regarding Towhitch. Say that there is no recall for this item.

Waiting for workshop manager to call me back.

Managed to get the Detachable Towhitch checked at the Dealers yesterday. They checked it with a piece of flat plate which hooks around the back of the locking handle and then a hole lines up with the side of the ball. The plate has a marked Red section also on it ,and if the locking handle points into this part they recommend changing the hitch.

Mine looked ok as it didn't point into this section, although the guy did point out it was a Thule hitch rather than a Land Rover hitch. I mentioned that as far as I knew Thule made the Land Rover hitch.

Although he then actually tried a used Land Rover hitch on mine and the handle position was almost exactly the same but the Hitch was much tighter than mine. Have to say they were very helpful.
