Bonneville Record with an SVR

Not sure if you guys are aware but there's a lady at Bonneville this weekend going for the outright speed record for a pursuit cyclist - as in cycling behind a moving vehicle. Denise Mueller will attempt to beat the current record of 167mph and she'll be cycling behind an SVR specially modified with a fairing extension to do the job.

That's why we fitted side exit pipes to shield from the noise, heat and gases obviously.

Women's World Record set on day one at 148.45mph.
Three more days to beat the original goal of 152 set by her Mentor in 1985 and then hopefully push on the the outright record

Update:
We lost Sunday as there were a couple of sensor issues and the custom exhaust (not ours) developed a crack which needed fixing.

Mondays runs were compromised a bit by the team feeling the pressure of losing a day but ended up with a run at 147 despite a headwind.

Hopefully the final day today will see her go faster but there's a weather front closing in and the salt is starting to degrade after the fourth mile. We suspect she needs the fifth mile for the outright record so that might be beyond reach now.

Fingers crossed for later

Unfortunately the weather front came and went during the night but rain turned the salt to a mini lake, rendering it unsafe, so that's the end of World of Speed this year.

The speed quoted earlier wasn't correct, she actually has the World Record at 147.7 for a paced bicycle.

I'm hoping they go looking for another venue as we know there's more to come but that's probably it for the salt at present

Great effort, well done all . That bike looks like somethings me and my mates use to cobble together along with go karts to race the holiday makers arriving by coach down a long sweeping hill into the village I grew up in . Let me know if you need a new pilot I'll dust off my old skateboard pads and helmet, might need to borrow some gloves if the wife won't lend me her gardeners .

Must be awesome to be involved in a project like that Smile

You were right on shielding the exhaust gasses - I melted the back wheel and tyre of my bike whilst strapped to the back of the car and driving back from a sportive 'enthusiastically'!

I'm very lucky to be involved with this sort of thing and I never forget that aspect.

I was also part of the JLR team that built an XF to run at Bonneville in 2007 at 225mph
