Do go prepared to negotiate. In my experience with main dealers there is always something to be gained. The last two times I have traded in with a main dealer I have been asked: "what do I need to do to close the deal today?", or words to that effect. I've gained a reduction in the price I need to pay (whether that is an increase in trade-in value or reduction in price is irrelevant) , and/or things like a new set of rubber mats, paintwork protection, replacement of part-worn tyres etc. etc.

Thanks Rich and Jock. Jock, I presume that was a brand new car? Not sure I'd be able to get 6% off an approved used. |
