How about reversing light then when you engage reverse it powers camera.

Could do. I will have to run a wire from reversing light up through the rear quarter panel and then back down through the tailgate glass. Will be a pain. |

Whenever I fit them, I use a high quality cable that has power, signal and ground in the same cable. That way, one cable is required, making it a tidier install. Other end is matched to reverse signal from the fusebox for power and the signal terminated in a new phono connector. Bodsys Brake Bible

For reversing light feed, I would run the wire down from the roof to the passenger side, and connect to the towbar plugs in the left side of the boot.
