Interesting I am running the previous RRS sport 20 inch wheels with 53 off set , with Cooper 285/50/R20 tyres and on one side 1 mm the other is a tobacco paper. I think tyre profile will also effect spacing so the issue is be careful, I did ask the question if offset would make much difference but did not bother to check how small the clearance actually is with the standard wheels.

Another issue , no way could I add snow boots or chains to these wheels. M16 SVD8 ,4.4 HSE with a few extras, Sold R50 , Wife SQ5 , BMW R1200GSW.

Standard L494 offset is 49mm, SVR is 42.5.

What you've done is actually pull the wheels in further by 4mm and then added more tyre width. This is compounded by having a different knuckle on the 494s
Normally we allow a good clearance around all surrounding components and go through a rigorous test regime to make sure the assemblies miss everything!

This then obviously leads to all kinds of conversations when disgruntled customers complain that their 24" Overfinch's fitted with spacers foul an arch etc

Dave I knew I was going to pull the wheel in but I didn't think 4 mm was such a big deal. My fault as I did not bother to look. Anyway 1 mm of clearance would not bother me but the the side with virtually no clearance does so I'll chase up some 3mm spacers, hopefully there is sufficient thread for this Solution to be secure. M16 SVD8 ,4.4 HSE with a few extras, Sold R50 , Wife SQ5 , BMW R1200GSW.

I think at 3mm you should be ok. I'm fairly sure there's sufficient thread engagement on the studs but probably worth checking somewhere.

That's Wayne Gardner's part of the world isn't it?

Yes Wollongong Wiz I think they called Wayne , also the home of Troy Corser . Used to be an industrial city 80 k's south of Sydney , but now is basically a suburb of Sydney. M16 SVD8 ,4.4 HSE with a few extras, Sold R50 , Wife SQ5 , BMW R1200GSW.
