I'm looking to paint my brake calipers and hubs soon, so I'm going to need a decent Jack. Can anyone recommend a good suitable jack?

If you want to keep the cost down, use the scissor jack that came with the car and an axle stand or two- 3 tonne or above to be on the safe side. The 2 tonne affairs might hold the weight of a corner, but they are a bit small for the RRS! You should have the car on axle stands anyway if you're planning on doing anything more than swapping a wheel over.
Despite the slating they often get, Halfrauds jacks and stands are pretty good. They sell Sealey stuff too, who have been around for years...

Don't use the LR-supplied scissor jack. It's an emergency-only item and has been known to fail.

Halfords 3-tonne trolley jack is pretty good. Bought one a couple of years ago and it feels solid in use; it certainly weighs a lot. I also got a pair of 3-tonne stands. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Oh heck! I used mine to change all 4 wheels to 19" ones, then back to 20's yesterday. I've got a Halfrauds 2 tonne trolley jack, but it isn't up the job of lifting the RRS, really feels like it's straining. Not high enough either

Thanks for that link, just had a look at that site, what are people's thoughts on these? Will these lift it enough? Is 2.5 tonne strong enough?

Merc sprinter bottle jacks are good and you can get an adapt or to fit them made especially for the RRS. Lot of Landcruisers now sold

as I mentioned,, I have the 2.5 ton,, rocket lift I think its called, it has a higher lift than a lot of jacks and certainly lifts the RS,,, only one corner at a time though. wouldn't like to risk lifting the whole front or rear, could be a tad wobbly !! 2010 RRS, TDV8

Ditch the LR jack in the car and get a bottle jack. Either lift under wishbones or under chassis.

The bottle jack looks interesting. Keep meaning to get one to replace the scissor jack. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Dan - that quick lift one has poor reviews on Disco3 forum. It buckles under load.....

It has very good reviews everywhere I've read.hmmmm. Perhaps if it's buckling under load all I can see it must be on an uneven floor to begin with.

And by the way avoid Sealey jacks, I used to work for Sealey, and the amount of damaged, faulty ones that used to come back were outrageous!. Mind you that goes for most of there products! Cheap rebranded Chinese imported, with a huge % mark up.

Another vote for the Halfords 3 Ton trolley jack even better if you can find someone with a trade card

Supplemented by an original LR Discovery 1 bottle jack that I picked up at a land rover show for a tenner. Though I dont use to jack whole vehicle TDV8 now with extra grin factor thanks to Alive Tunning: Gone but not forgotten
