I was completely, totally and blissfully unaware that you need a FAC in Ireland for any air-rifle with more that 1lb of pressure - that's about a blow pipe!

I inadvertently "imported" an air rifle had in London, so when I found out wandered down to the Garda to ask about getting a licence for it.

Q1 - "Is it for target shooting?" asks that Garda with an up/down nodding of his head
A1 - "Of course"

Q2 - "What's the serial number?"
A2 - "Not a clue!" Like this is a very old lever action air-rifle previously used for rabbits/rats

Apparently I can't get a FAC without registering the gun and as it hasn't got a serial number...

It got quietly exported again

I think its harder to get a shotgun licence over there but easier for things like .22s
