Frozen doors

Found both my front doors frozen shut this morning, is there supposed to be ice in between the two seals?

only -3 and we couldn't get in the car. I hope we don't have a real winter!

I'm guessing this is why it leaves a nice splash of water on the seat when you open a door when its raining too.

Yup - aerosol tin of Halfrauds silicon spray - spray onto a cloth then wipe around all the seals (and there are a lot of them on a Sport).

Don't spray direct from the can..............makes a mess. MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems.

I just use multi surface furniture polish. It gives the same result.

I had the same problem on a BMW convertible, where the frameless windows need to drop before the door can open. Following advice on a BMW forum I used gummi pflege. Absolute disaster! Muck everywhere and didn't solve the problem. I'll try silicone spray on the RRS. Might do it today as prevention, even if no problems yet.

Cheers for the tips I'll get some spray tomorrow. I think it was the very tops of the doors that were frozen not the actual rubber seals. theres a felt strip that probably should stop the water getting to the seals but its not doing its job so well

Get some liquid silicone lubricant used by plumbers (Wickes or B&Q etc) . Rub a little on all exposed rubbers/trim seals with a cloth. Cheap and really effective and doesn't attack the trim.

I would happily keep it in the garage but no one told my house builder that some people own cars longer than a fiesta. i managed to get it in once while i was offshore but its too close for comfort to be putting it in and out every day.

heres how close the back had to go to get the door shut......

there's about double that gap at the front

Same here ... mine has to stay outside as my car park is accessed via a lift ...

The old RRS made it in at a squeeze ... but this new one just won't fit , theres about 5mm each side and you have to approach it at an angle....
Luckily we've had a mild winter so far but minus 15 nights are usually the norm ..... so thanks for the silicone tip 2014.5 SDV6 AB Dynamic ... Fuji /Santorini Pan roof and 22's
