R22 / Z22

I understand the R means radial but, what's the difference and which is best? Confused

R and Z could be the speed ratings - 106mph and 150+mph respectively. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Well, I understand the R means radial which means the steel strands run at 90 degrees to the rotation of the wheel but I have no idea what the Z means or even which is best.

I suppose Z could mean speed rating as I believe most tyres are radial nowadays.

Also, I'm about to purchase Perelli Zero 285/35/Z22 which is why I ask the question.
