Hi, if its the lower tailgate trim where the letters are, it just clips back into place, make sure the clips are all good and give it a tap back on |

It looks like I have some pins on the ends to slide in, so I just cannot push.. |

You do not need to slide the trim on, the black clips that are still in the tailgate come off and fit back into the trim. here is a you tube video that should help you -
