Turns out the rear diff is fine.

Steve Parkers had it up on the ramp and found:

"Handbrake cable running on prop shaft, found heats girls loose and catching on prop shaft and exhaust, prop shaft bearing u/s."

So positive as the cost is now £400 for repair. 2006 HSE for Sale - £7,499 (Manchester)

Excellent news!

It's a sign of the world of the modern Land Rover owner that a bill of "only" £400 is seen as good news... 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Lol!!

Spent £360 last week on service, MOT and rear caliper...

Also got pulled today by the police for no car insurance!!! My last policy ended on the 30th October, took out a new policy straight away, but put the date for start as 23rd November!!!!

Fortunately police were great, and allowed me to sort it there and then as I had proof of payment etc. insurance company charged me £65 though! Could have been a lot worse though!!! 2006 HSE for Sale - £7,499 (Manchester)
