Keyless Entry

*I posted this in the RRS2 forum but there seems to be more activity over here*

Picked up my 2014 RRS2 at the weekend. Just noticed that the Keyless Entry doesn't work on the drivers door. It works on the other three. It's the same with both remotes.

I am some distance from the dealer and it will be some time before I get back to them.

Has anyone else encountered this problem?

Do you mean that it isn't responding to the key fob when you press the lock/unlock button or do you mean it won't react when you leave the fob in your pocket and you touch the dimple on the door pull? Make sure that you don't have any mobile phone, other bunches of keys or a load of coins in your pocket that the key fob is in as they can all interfer with the remote's signals 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Hi Tim

Thanks for the reply.

The key fob is working fine via the buttons. It doesn't work when the fob is in my pocket (or in my hand for that matter) and I try to open the door by pulling the handle with my fingers wrapped around it or trying to lock it by touching the dimples. It is only the drivers door that is not working. The other three doors work fine. My wife has tried it with the same results.

Could be that the sensor (or possibly the aerial) has become disconnected in that door. Does it lock from the door handle? Will it unlock if you stand by the rear door and pull on the driver's handle?

ETA: I've just seen that you said it doesn't lock either. Probably the sensor in the handle disconnected.

Hi Phil

Thanks for your reply.

Will that be a dealer fix or is it a quick diy fix?

If your car is covered by the 3 year warranty then it should be a warranty claim at the dealership 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Thanks Tim.

Like I said earlier it may be a while before I'm back at the dealer. I was hoping it would be a simple fix. However in the grand scheme of things it's not a big issue. Our last two cars didn't have keyless entry so I can live with it for a while. It doesn't detract in the slightest from the driving pleasure Very Happy
