Hi sorry if this has been covered before I'm not that good at finding stuff on this forum.
On a Range Rover Sport 2.7 TDV6 the engine was surging.
Had the codes read.

Codes P405 egr A low, P140a Egr A low, P0578 speed control stuck, P1335 egr position, P0299 turbo boost low.

My question is that the Egr's are both blanked off and the butterfly was removed altogether. Would these codes remaining in the system have any detrimental effect as they are not actually operating any physical component.

Would P0578 be responsible for a surging, revving thing that's annoying at times.

P0299 turned out to be the intercooler hose has a split in it, that's done but the surging, pulsing effect is still here.


Any idea what P0578 refers to in regard to component failure?

P0578...Any curise control issues; maybe only intermittent?

Loom behind the airbag, switchpack or clockspring (in ascending order of cost) are the usual culprits.

No issue with codes remaining. I'm not sure if the above can cause surging, but other things like the torque converter, injectors and ECT and EOT sensors certainly can. I presume the other symptoms of EGR failure and the boost leak have cleared? Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

Hi thanks for the reply, the boost pressure problem on the turbo is sorted now.
EGR valves show faults but these are just blanked off... EGR valves aren't connected to the manifolds.
I think when the EGR valves failed that it was deemed a better idea just to block them off.
I wondered if the fault codes that are logged ( that won't clear) are causing any issues.
I have no management lights on etc, they only show up when the codes are read.
