A difficult one. If you do 18k a year, it's perhaps less worthwhile getting a lower mileage car. I guess you need to think about what you'd do in the event of a major failure, and if possible, put some money aside. There's also the devil-you-know element.

Thanks Lost for Words, appreciate your thoughts. The sensible thing to do is probably change, but when you know a car and how its been treated, the words 'devil you know' come to mind....I will be really sad to see her go.. low mileage TDV8's are like hens teeth so that's probably not a viable option & the SDV6 is a great car but doesn't have that V8 rumble!! |

TBH, I think it's very difficult to pick the perfect moment to sell a car, on all fronts, so it's probably best to go with your heart or gut instinct. |

I'm in a similar position - my TDV8 has 105k miles and I'm doing about 25k miles a year currently. The issue is the "cost to change". As you say, you'd probably spend £20k to replace it. A double turbo change is about £5k at a dealership. The other big ticket items such as new ARBs are about £1.5k per bar.

I agree, stick with it and put some £ aside for a "rainy day".......you've looked after it and its looked after you.

I agree, keep it. If it's only worth 10k it's not worth getting rid of. As RRSTDV8 says, put a few grand in the bank and enjoy it for another 40-50k miles. Why not see how much she will do with good repairs and a good maintenance plan. |

Keep it if she's running fine and you still enjoy. As you say, the devil you know. |

Good call Dr Rob. Wouldn't be much I guess? Alloys refurbed & a rear bumper scuff...probably £350 or so. Will keep trawling the £30k RRS ads, but will probably still be with the old Sport in 12 months time! |

I was half thinking the same. I put my TDV8 in for a service a few months ago, while I was at the dealer I test drove a 2013 RRS. The interior and extra gadgets were nice. The newer gearbox was also nice. The engine didn't feel so great compared to the TDV8. I couldn't justify the extra 20k to change. Although a month after the test drive a turbo failed on my car. Two turbos later at £3.8k maybe I should have taken the 2013 car.

Ive my tdv8 and just got all my suspension sorted and nice new 22" rims on its looking so good and drives tight as a tiger. I give it oil twice a year, keep LR parts only in it and give it diesel treatments each month. Its sitting at 125k now and drives amazing. I've no complaints and all my friends and family think I drive a 30k ride |

Jame5, I drove an SDV6 too, and although its a great car, the engine tone and pull wasn't as exciting as the TDV8. The trouble we've all got with high mileage TDV8's is that the other RRS diesels aren't as exciting to drive and we'll have to part with £20k as well!!!
