I'm all up for handing it back, but as of yet I don't know if its the same or different, and what the difference is... I have however received a reply from JLR with:

Please see the information we have in relation to engine specifications:

- Bore - Norminal - 80.00mm (3.307 inches)
- Stroke - 98.5mm (3.858 inches)
- Capacity - 4367 cc (266.49 cu.in)
- Firing order - 1- 5 -4 - 2 - 6 - 3 - 7 -8
- Compression Ratio - 16.1:1
- Direction of rotation - Anti-clockwise viewed from rear of engine
- Maximum power - 250 KW (339 PS) (335 bhp) at 3500 rev/min
- Maximum torque - 700 NM (516 IB/FT) at 1750 - 3000 rev/min
- CO2 - 229g/km

Now all I need is the comparable spec of an SDV8 from 2014 ?

I suspect this will turn out to be a clerical error when the vehicle was originally registered new.

What remains though is for you to decide if you have got the car you assumed you had bought and also, if not, do you think you have ended up with a better or worse deal as a result. Current - 2014 Range Rover Sport HSE SDV6
Gone - 2017 Audi A8 Sport
Gone - 2007 Range Rover Sport HSE TDV8 - Great car.

Seems that "260PS" in your engine name is just a confusing model name not an indicator of power. Figures from your later print out are exactly right for SDV8 so only deepens mystery as to why LR want to call yours a TDV6.

Only other thing is your build date is very early – of all used V8s on LR site one is on a 63 plate with only a few on a 14. According to thread in "Orders" section the first dealer cars didn't arrive till the end of Jan – what have you been told of your cars history: was it pre-production/press/dealer demo?

It was a demonstrator and build date sounds quite early but it's a MY14.5 build which adds to the confusion! I've replied to JLR for more information and an actual person that I can talk to. It could just be a balls up but I've got to get it clear and then hand it back or keep it.

Thanks for all the help and information, it is greatly appreciated.

Ok, so just to close this one off, JLR have now decided that...

"Unfortunately, we cannot provide this information.

I apologise for any inconvenience."

Just perfect. Customer relations = Fail.

So if the manufacturer won't tell me, and the stealer is more than selective with the truth then I've no where else to go. I wonder what caused the ever helpful customer relations to just go cold on me ? The stealer been in touch maybe? or perhaps registering TDV8's as SDV8's isn't just a one-off?

Anyway, thanks for all the comments and help with this, its much appreciated Smile
