2006 SC - Tailgate intermittently pops open on starting

Hi all,

Have a 2006 4.2L SC Sport.

The key fob is set so that the tailgate opens by pressing the third button normally. For the last week the tailgate now pops open usually a few seconds after either starting ignition or after trying lock car. Then have to get out, slam it shut and then re-start or re-lock.

I've looked through google and this forum for similar tales of woe and people describe being unable to open or lock the tailgate but this seems different ?

Any help would be appreciated - happy to lock the tailgate permanently shut if I can do this as a solution (never use it !),
