Bon jour mes RRS amis Thumbs Up

Got in a bit late last night having driven from Dover straight after competing the 100k Milestone

I have to say the ride was much harder that I imagined - but hugely enjoyable. 5am start in Dover to catch the first ferry to Calais. In France the weather was perfect, 16c and cloudy with hardly any breeze at all, but the hills were horrendous. Total elevation change was 4600ft Shocked The sun came out towards the end of the afternoon as we sprinted the last 10k back into Calais. I do mean sprinted too and my daughter is very competitive and wanted to crack 4hrs 45mins. We finished the 100k in 4hrs 41mins. Thumbs Up

The day was extremely well organised with food stations at 30k and 70k where we all 'carbed up', but even then the organisers reckon participants burn about 4500-5000 calories over the day !!! Motorcyclists followed us round to hep with medical and mechanical problems but we were fine. Can't say the same for the guy who hit the car as he went round a corner on the left, not the right or the dozen or so poor things who got punctures.

Anyway I am really pleased we did it - with no obvious adverse side effects Whistle - than goodness for the chamois cream and thanks to everyone again who supported us.

Hopefully the event photographers will have some decent shots from the day and I'll post them up here asap.
