I did a fairly stupid thing last week and used a sponge then hose under the bonnet to get rid of a load of dust/muck. A host of warning lights met me the next time I switched on. Reduced traction, HDC fault, Parking brake auto release gone etc etc.
The nice RAC came and reset lots of codes but couldnt reset:

'UO 403 Invalid data received from transfer control module'

Any posts I've read suggested water in the control module behind the battery. It looked dry but I removed it cleaned the contacts and connectors, x2, gave a small spray of WD-40 , put it together again and ended up with the multiple faults reading again with ignition on.
As it all went wrong after washing I have to accept I was the twit. I'm away to try a hard reset but does it sound like I've goosed the Transfer control ecu , and if so, will a new one likely solve the problem?

Have you tried option 1 for all occasions i.e. disconnect the battery and fully charge it, test the voltage and then do your hard reset before reinstalling it?

Anyway - it seems there are two manufacturer specific codes with that prefix:

U0403-94 Invalid data

Using the manufacturer approved diagnostic system, check the
transfer box control module for DTCs and refer to the relevant
DTC index, rectify as required. Check the system is operating
correctly and the DTC does not return. Suspect the transfer box
control module, check and install a new transfer box control
module as required, refer to the new module/component
installation note at the top of the DTC Index.

AND (a less scary one):

U040381 Invalid data received from
the TCCM

TCCM fault

Check for CAN or module DTCs. Check the power
and ground circuits to the TCCM, rectify as
necessary.

Based on nothing apart from a few posts on the forum things may improve if you let the TCCM dry out for a bit longer or even open it up and dry it carefully with a hair drier.

A new module is about £200 with the VAT and has to be coded to the car with a diagnostic system so not a complete cluster

i think it will be the first option. I've charged the battery, done the hard reset (using a jump lead) , re-installed the battery, used my daughter's hair dryer, my wife's suede shoe brush on the connectors, everything i can think of without any success.
It seems to be stuck in low gear mode, flashing hi-lo indicator, could be a slow trip to the garage.

Might be worth trying a calibration:

Just a follow up.
New TCCM ecu fitted,(corrosion internally and likely older than my recent under bonnet wash) diagnostics run and everything fixed. Excellent service from Greenbank 4x4 in Aberdeen.
Interestingly I dont have the large cover that sits over battery/fuse box. Maybe lost at a service or had work done here previously?
