So when i got my RRS i looked at the mpg and it Averaged 19.8 and i cried inside.... Within 2weeks she's up to 30mpg which is a massive improvement. Next stop is to get the gearbox oil changed and hand her over to JF automotive to get a gearbox and ecu tune (been informed that they have insurance to cover any non payment from warranty companies regarding their products)

Dear Cocobench,
I'm interested in how you got increased MPG? I've just acquired a 2008 HST TDv8 and I drive very conservatively and get combined of 29MPG and jus motorway at 60mph I get 33.4 mpg.
What did you do to go from 19 to 30 mpg?

Why buy a TDV8 and drive it like miss Daisy to eek out the MPG

A point well made.
I enjoy driving like miss daisy and find it less stressful, however I do boot it down on occasion and love that too! I get the best of both worlds.....try it

Just to stick my ore in I have a 2.7 tdv6. 33 on motorway with 5 in car and a full boot. Local driving about 20 and combined 27ish. I'm not Fat. RRS TDV6 HST.

I can get the 3 bit unfortunately it has a 1 in front of it and no zero

OK Guys,

I'm all for a bit of smart banter, but Cocbeach has stated that within two weeks he has gone from 19mph to 30mph, but there's no explanation of how.
If there's a way of squeezing more mpg out of our RRSports that allows us to go further for less or enjoy putting the throttle to good use whilst in the lap of luxury, it's worth knowing.
So I'll have one last go at asking the question, HOW did he do this?

It's easy. Reset the computer and drive like a nanna on long runs at 55-60 mph. Don't actually check your miles and litres at fill up time, just believe the RRS computer. Done.

If I understand correctly, those 2 weeks were cocobench's first 2 weeks of ownership. Quite possibly the previous owner's driving style and/or conditions were very different to his?

Agree with BKHK about trip computer's (in)accuracy. Out of curiosity, I compared trip computer mpg with actual mpg (fill ups/miles) over a long trip and found it to be 13% optimistic. My previous one was also 11% optimistic. I keep an eye on it to catch any unusual spike which could indicate a problem. Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top

I did suspect that the trip computer was not accurate and you've confirmed my suspicions.
It may be a thirsty beast, but God I love driving it.

I think the previous owner enjoyed his / her last drive before it was sold. My wife always gets more mpg than I get out of her RRS Very strange

My trip computer is always 10-12% optimistic as well. It reads about 31 but reality is 27 or 28, mostly motorway at 70. I am very happy with that.

to be honest guys i had a play about with Wynn cleaners injector & turbo cleaner and also on country roads selected my own gearing. The best i got was 32mpg at 76mph over a 70mile trip bearing in mind i have a big old wide kit 22" wheels and spacers etc.


Im booked in for "engine carbon clean" youtube will show you, amazing results and feedback I'm hearing
also booked in for ECU & Gearbox remap which I'm told should have a 20-30% mpg difference


Once all is done and settled i shall report on my everyday mpg MY 11 TDV6 Fuji White Onyx
