Transmission fault

Hi everyone I'm new on this site , I was wondering if anyone can help me as I'm having sum trouble with my rrs tdv8 , I was driving on motorway other day and just before I was about to reach home I had a message displayed in dash saying transmission fault and it only gaved me certain gear or gears to use as there wasn't any hard shoulder at the time I had to move on to lorries lane I was doing about 50mph on between 4-5k revs , and then I managed to get to the bit where hard shoulder was available and I stopped turned engine off and on message disappeared and gears seem to be fine until I find another few miles same message appeared again, and limited gears i was driving and the gear box wasn't selecting higher gears until I take my foot of gas pedal ,I was back home parked and left it till morning and next day where I was parked oil puddle was there about 10" size ,just wondering if anyone can advise me what to do , I haven't drived the vehicle since ? Many thanks

Welcome. Thumbs Up

Sorry to hear of your problems. Sad

Can you identify where the oil is coming from (engine/gearbox/transfer box/diff)? Naturally, this has to be the first step. A diagnostic session may also help if possible.

In case it's not related, were you not to have mentioned the oil, I'd have said the following:

Brake bulbs and switch. Also, always worth checking the battery and alternator. Thumbs Up

Also potentially an ABS sensor and/or Steering Angle Sensor (SAS). Wink Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

I can't really sea as it's got protection cover ,the oil puddle location is near enough on the center of the front and it's about 1 meter inwards from front bumper ,oil is light brown colour, how will I be able to identify where the leak is actually cuming out from , I'm going to get rac to take it garage as I don't know how serious it is ,don't wanna cause further damage , many thanks for you reply. Thumbs Up
