United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Lux Stornoway Grey

Agh, loved reading those Wink Same here, even with my current issues - I know I'll fix them and be very very happy with mine for the next lot of years. Im at 120k now, seen a heck of a lot of motorway and diesel pumps along the way too Wink

Would love to do a facelift on it, but think I'll hold off and get a newer one in a year or so.

United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Orkney Grey

Picked my RRS up from the dealership this evening after having a new starter motor fitted. The 64-plate 7k-mile Volvo XC60AWD that I'd borrowed from Enterprise was very nice - lots of kit, very comfortable etc. - but getting back in my 57 plate, 89k mile RRS felt good. Even with the slightly tired suspension, the EGR valves that are probably on their way out etc., it still felt a nice place to be. Thumbs Up 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Ireland 2009 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Santorini Black

It's a 2009 here, 90k. At 60k it had new pads and discs. Still on its 2nd set of tyres, good year wrangler f1. That's it. No, I tell a lie. One day I was driving on a motorway and the ride wasn't great, a bit of a shudder feeling. Brought it to LR Belfast and they took it in, recalibrated the suspension, a few other checks, road test etc and they said there was nothing wrong with it. Ok, let's see how it goes then. So I pick it up (nicely valeted too) and took it for a spin. No issue. Only a few months later on the same road, same thing happens again. Turns out it's just that stretch of road and the car was not at fault at all. Haha, now I see - everytime I need a valet I just need to find a fault and LR will check it out under warranty and give me a nice clean car again Laughing

Joking aside, it's been serviced on schedule all the time and drives like a dream. You know what you are letting yourself in for with an expensive car like this but my owners experience, as well as the LR dealer experience, has been fantastic. I maybe just got lucky. The other car in our drive way is a Jaguar S Type (I know, I know, buying a Range Rover and a Jaguar is like looking down the barrel of a gun) but it's a great car too. It's been mentioned earlier about what to drive if you don't drive a RR, Jaguar is your answer. You get that same 'special feeling' everytime you drive it - its like a magic carpet ride and, unbelievably, the seats are almost as comfortable as the RR.

Once both cars are at 100k ish, we'll be going for another RRS and a Jaguar XJ. We may get lucky again, we may not. But would you rather get into a car that makes you smile everyday, despite a hefty bill lurking around the corner, or would you rather drive a more standard car with the knowledge that if a repair is needed, it won't break the bank? It's a question which needs weighed up but as the saying goes, you can't have it all your own way Wink

United States 2006 Range Rover Sport 4.4 V8 HSE Zambezi Silver

My '06 4.4L V8 has 75K - other than normal service items (tires, brakes, battery, oil etc.) it has needed 1 wheel bearing, rear sway bar links and bushes - not bad at all. Previous owner said he replaced one air spring - but it does;t look like it to me. I've been off roading a few times and it runs very well.

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

I haven't owned an RRS for 5 years BUT I reckon that the TDv8 HSE that I owned between 2007 and 2011 (the longest I'ver owned a car and I regretted exchanging for a 3.6 TDv8 FFRR Vogue) is the best car I have ever owned. The 2.7SE I had before it was great too but just didn't have the get up and go of the TDv8. Neither of my Sports (or either FFRR) needed any unscheduled visits to the service bay, both easily achieved the Combined cycle mpg unless I did a lot of low ratio offroad stuff in them and both towed like there was nothing stuck out the back unless I looked in the RVM! My Tdv8 did develope rattly front suspension but that was fixed during a routine service.
A tip for others? Well maybe these:-
1) Always park in access mode, but don't engage the parking brake until the car has fully lowered. In pre 2010MY cars parking with the car in access mode told all the electronics to shut down fully saving battery load.
2) All my Land Rovers over the years (except my current Evoque) have been regualarly taken offroad but if I hadn't used it off road for a month or two then I would take it to some soft ground and engage the low ratios and give them a run to keep the electro-pneumatic transfer motor from seizing up and to keep the low ranges lubricated. So tip - engage the transfer box monthly and give it a run even if you never intend to go offroading - repairs are complex and expensive!
3) Find a Green Lane Club and just once in your ownership take it off-road for a run - if you only ever do the supermarket/ school ruin or commute in your RRS you will only ever use it for 50% of it's capabilities - they really are very good offroad, especially if you have decent tyres and don't bite off more than you can chew on the first outing! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced
2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care
Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW
