It's a 2009 here, 90k. At 60k it had new pads and discs. Still on its 2nd set of tyres, good year wrangler f1. That's it. No, I tell a lie. One day I was driving on a motorway and the ride wasn't great, a bit of a shudder feeling. Brought it to LR Belfast and they took it in, recalibrated the suspension, a few other checks, road test etc and they said there was nothing wrong with it. Ok, let's see how it goes then. So I pick it up (nicely valeted too) and took it for a spin. No issue. Only a few months later on the same road, same thing happens again. Turns out it's just that stretch of road and the car was not at fault at all. Haha, now I see - everytime I need a valet I just need to find a fault and LR will check it out under warranty and give me a nice clean car again
Joking aside, it's been serviced on schedule all the time and drives like a dream. You know what you are letting yourself in for with an expensive car like this but my owners experience, as well as the LR dealer experience, has been fantastic. I maybe just got lucky. The other car in our drive way is a Jaguar S Type (I know, I know, buying a Range Rover and a Jaguar is like looking down the barrel of a gun) but it's a great car too. It's been mentioned earlier about what to drive if you don't drive a RR, Jaguar is your answer. You get that same 'special feeling' everytime you drive it - its like a magic carpet ride and, unbelievably, the seats are almost as comfortable as the RR.
Once both cars are at 100k ish, we'll be going for another RRS and a Jaguar XJ. We may get lucky again, we may not. But would you rather get into a car that makes you smile everyday, despite a hefty bill lurking around the corner, or would you rather drive a more standard car with the knowledge that if a repair is needed, it won't break the bank? It's a question which needs weighed up but as the saying goes, you can't have it all your own way
