Gearbox Flush today

Hi

Just had Geoff round to do the gearbox flush and have just been out for a quick drive, as working through the SWMBO list, as I have had today of work.

The transmission fluid that came out was not too black for 97000 miles but wow, what a difference its made to the car. It is noticeably quieter with smoother gear changes. I now find the car changes gear at around 1900 rpm now instead of 2200 rpm, for the same style of driving. The car also feels more livelier and spritely to drive, with a sharper pull off from a standing start. Its made the car feel as if its got a bit more urge or younger, if that's possible.

I only had this done from what I have read on the forum, as preventative maintenance but am pleasantly surprised it has made such a noticeable difference to the driving experience.

Can recommend having this done by Geoff

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Ipanema Sand

Just wondering what the thoughts are on how often to change ATF? On the service schedule the dealer gave me for my 2011 TDV6 it calls for new ATF at 9 years or 144,000miles. That seems a long time to me. When I had a Merc E320, ATF was changed at 40,000 miles then it was in for life, but I changed it every 40,000 miles. My old Freelander 2 was "sealed for Life" whatever that means, but I think it was because it was a pig to get at.

My car has 40,000 on the clock and is running as sweet as a nut and I would like to keep it that way.

Geoff did my gearbox when I was down with him doing the Cam belt weekend and what a difference it made, highly recommended.
