Original book recommendation was Castrol GTX every 7500 miles/6 months - seems like long interval for conventional oil ? I used Castrol Edge Synthetic 5W30 last time - any concerns with leaking seals on these engines ? (local indie says castrol is way to go). I plan to stretch OCI to 10K/1year with that.

Also what about Filter ? Motorcraft one seems to be well built, looks similar to JLR one - and fraction of the cost.

I've not heard of an issue with leaking seals in that engine, so no reason for me to think there is an issue. A good oil will contain additives to swell the seals, so should help to prevent leaks. A good 5w-30 like the Edge should be absolutely fine for it. If it burns much oil, it might be worth going to a 5w-40 though. With a good oil like the Edge, annual changes or 10k will be absolutely fine.

I don't deal with Motorcraft so can't really comment on their filters. Here are the ones that we have and we have found them all to be absolutely fine.

What oil would you recommend for the following vehicle:

Model - 3.0TD
Year - 2009
Mods - None - Still Under Warranty
Use (road/track etc) - 100% road

I've always used either shell or castrol in the past but I'm not sure which one is best
