agreed, very strange! I asked the LR teccie and he said no way would that cause a problem. But the garage saw that with the drl's on the pump stopped working. Maybe it's a sign that the pump is on its way out, we'll see.
What I've done anyway, thanks to the post http://www.rrsport.co.uk/forum/post385109.html#385109, is to slot the yellow wire directly into the spare relay 12 ignition live slot. I've confirmed with the multimeter that it's live only with ignition on. And there's about a 15 second delay between taking the key out of the ignition and the drl's switching off.
Here is my fuse box now. I'll be buying a more rigid spade connector at weekend:

Paul, do you have the dormant wiring loom by the front radiator?

I did read though (cant remember where) that the live on that connector does not stay live all of the time and works in the same way that connecting direct to battery with a fused link does. This means that the DRLs will go off at idle and sometimes on engine overrun once the battery is up to charging capacity. I originally took the easiest option of the fused link to the battery and had this problem.
There's a lot of info on the US RR site about this
I was originally apprehensive about piggy backing on the fuel pump fuse but I've had no problems in 15 months
Hi guys could anyone help with a little info regarding wiring of drl rings that I have purchased, the rings have black red and white cable attached, I have also purchased a auto drl switch which also has red black cables which connect to the rings the switch also has a white cable, my question is where do I connect both white wires to, may be simple answer but rather be safe that sorry,
This may help..
For two level Brightness rings,
Red and White wires = Positive, Black wire = Negative
One level brightness: Red colour positive wire + Black negative wire.
Two level brightness: Red colour positive wire + Black negative wire + White colour positive wire.

Yep, red to the live of the battery, black to the chassis, and white to either the live of the headlights or the fuse box. If you have only 3 wires I would have though the 3rd white cable goes to the fuse box, otherwise your lights would be on permanently.
any instructions with them?

After many question and many post read I finally took the plunge and decided to install led drl rings on my RRS, the only scary part was putting lights into the oven but little and often rather than long period in the oven seems to work for me, I searched for ages to find the correct rings for me 5 led rings, each to there own though, I painted the internals satin black and changed the amber side refactors to clear ones, I am really pleased with the outcome,
