I really don't know if there's any fundamental difference between the two, I just bought the A1 because it's what Castrol recommended for my make/model/year. Recently bought a 2007 RRS HSE TDV6 for a Pimp-My-Ride-Project.

This is probably why Castrol advised me to buy the 5W-30 A1. Recently bought a 2007 RRS HSE TDV6 for a Pimp-My-Ride-Project.
